About the event
Ask most writers what kind of book they secretly wished they could write, and a large percentage will confess their desire to write a successful picture book for children or a chapter book for middle schoolers.
Writing for children or young people is no easy feat. It demands not just a strong imagination but a clear understanding of what captures and moves the young mind.
Sharon Bell Mathis, co-founder of the DC Black Writers Workshop, has been writing books for children and youth since the 1970s. That means she knows a thing or two about what makes them tick, what they want in their reading materials and how you might give it to them.
Join her on Saturday Feb 15 from 11 am-1 pm for Part 1 of her workshop on how to write books for children. Seating is limited. So, REGISTER NOW. While the workshop is free, you won't…
